Dear Parents and Guardians
I hope that this finds you and your family well.
Next week is the half term break. We have now been learning from home for 6 weeks and this will continue for at least the first 2 weeks back after half term. What will happen after this is yet to be decided but I will inform everyone as soon as we know what is happening and what any sort of return to school will look like.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you parents, for the hard work you have put in at home and the part you have played in ensuring that our children continue with routine and learning as much as possible. I fully appreciate that learning from home is tough but I am really pleased with the levels of engagement that we have had and the open communication between home and school that has improved so significantly since the beginning of January.
It is also important to recognise the hard work of all of the staff, whether they have been teaching from home or helping the children to learn in the school ‘hub’. I extend my thanks to them for continuing to work their hardest to help your children thrive during this challenging time.
Lastly, I’d like to thank the children. Having only recently started at Northside, I have yet to have the opportunity to meet so many of our wonderful children, but their resilience and determination had impressed me throughout the last 6 weeks. It has been a delight to see so many of them engaging with online learning, as well as completing and returning work. I have really enjoyed coming out on to the Northside estate to award our stars of the week and the smiles that I have been greeted with have certainly made me smile too!
I wish you all a lovely half term, whatever you are able to do during this time. Hopefully the sun will continue to shine and we’ll all be able to get out into our gardens or go for walks.
I look forward to seeing you all back on learning from home on Monday 22nd February.
With best wishes
Joanne Lloyd
